The training of brass instrument player musicians was finalized with meeting-concert


Individual and group training courses were organized for the brass instrument player students of several music schools in Yerevan. Three-year training of musicians was completed on February 22 with a meeting-concert. 
 

Concert of ancient music Ensemble “Tagharan” at Komitas Chamber Music House


Last the Ensemble had performed Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 twenty years ago. After the hiatus, the Ensemble performed it with a practically new composition.

The National Academic Choir of Armenia dedicated its first concert of the year to the centenary of Sardarapat Heroic Battle.  This is the gift of the national Capella to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic.  
 

Italian conductor and viola player performed jointly with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia


On March 2, the stage of Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall hosted the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia. The conductor platform was engaged by Pier Carlo Orizio. One of the best violists of Italy Luca Ranieri was in Armenia for the first time. 
 

What monuments will be restored this year: the Ministry of Culture provides explanations


In 2018, 15 monuments are planned to be studied, as well as design and restoration works are to be conducted under the state budget funds. Three excavations, five design, ten restoration.  This year, the Ministry of Culture was allocated 250 million AMD from the state budget.  
 

Presentation of a three-language book on Dadivank frescoes


By the initiative of Victoria International Charity Foundation, “Dadivank: Miracle Reborn” book was published. The new publication is dedicated to the frescoes of Dadivank. The book features rarest frescoes unearthed over the last years, the history of their creation, specifics of iconography and restoration.

Second exhibition of “Creating Hands” was opened in Gevorkian Theological Seminary  
The series of exhibitions “Creating Hands” continues in Gevorkian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Susanna Mkrtchyan and Gor Hovhannisyan are the participants of the second exhibition of the project.

Presentation of the yearbook “Komitas and Traditional Music Culture” in Komitas Museum


On February 19 - on the day of book presenting, the presentation of the yearbook “Komitas and Traditional Music Culture” was held in Komitas Museum. The yearbook is a collection of academic articles on Komitas’s music heritage, music folklore and medieval music. 
 

February 12 marks the beginning of a 40-day lent


February 11 is the Feast of Bun Barekendan. The period of the Great Lent is starting. 
 

Divine Liturgy of Tearnyndaraj in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin


On February 12, all believers were gathered in all Armenian Apostolic Churches to mark the consecration of Tearnyndaraj. The Divine Liturgy of the Mother See of Holy  Etchmiadzin was offered by Rev. Fr. Komitas Hovnanyan. 

Chorus compositions of Penderecki performed by “Hover”


The second concert of Penderecki Festival of February 15 took place in Komitas Chamber Music House.  Hover State Chamber Choir was on the stage.
 

Alternative Music Education in “Nexus” Art Center


Nexus Art Center teaches playing acoustic, electric and bass guitars, piano and drums using alternative methods. There is no age limit for this type of education.
